A small bathroom seems to limit what can be done to improve it. It can indeed be a challenge. How can you make it look more spacious? It is not impossible to decorate a small bathroom. You can get inspiration by following several of the ideas below:

Idea #1 – Simplicity

For any small room including bedrooms and living rooms, etc., simplicity is the number one rule. Use a simple design for the flooring, the wall, and for bathroom accessories. Before decorating the bathroom, you should sketch out your idea. Prepare things that you will need and select them for their simple designs. Use less furniture, omit unnecessary accessories and avoid extended vanities in order to save valuable space.

Idea #2 – Replace your old toilet

Newer models of toilets have a slimmer design compared to older ones, so they save more space. Use a round-front or compact toilet to replace a large toilet. Recent models of toilets are also more efficient. They require less water for flushing compared to old toilets.

Idea #3 – Use smaller-sized vanity

You can install a slim style vanity instead of a large one. Wall-mounted sinks or pedestal sinks are also good choices for a small bathroom. Since pedestals don’t have drawers or any storage space, install shelving on the wall for storage of your bathroom necessities. Using a corner vanity is also good idea to utilize the usually wasted space in the corner.

Idea #4 – Install floor tiles diagonally

A diagonal orientation of the floor tiles makes your bathroom appear larger. Instead of selecting small tiles, pick larger tiles with thin grout outlines. Both ideas will compliment the limited space of the bathroom.

Idea #5 – Opt for corner shower

Corner showers are a good substitution for a full bathtub. The reason is obvious: to save space. However, if you insist on having a bathtub, choose one with a compact design and use a sliding glass door instead of a hanging curtain. Adapt a functional style

A dining table must be small enough to fit the room but huge enough for the plates and serving trays to fit in. There is also a design of a sofa wherein you can convert it into a dinner set. The table is long enough for the family to eat on it and the sofa is huddled close together for the members to sit on them as they eat. This will promote your binding moment together. But if you have a room and the living room is separate you must ensure that the sofa is not so huge as to occupy the whole space.

Think of beauty

It does not mean that just because you want to have a functional room you will already sacrifice beauty in the process. Be careful with the designs that may convert your small space into a luxurious haven that even large homes do not possess. Take into account the design of your curtains. Check the intricate details of the fabric. Are they soft enough to touch and pleasing to the eyes?
